Kia Ora!
Welcome to Royal Oak Baptist Church.
We are a diverse community of people who have one thing in common: we seek the transforming work of Christ’s Gospel; in us, our whanau, our community and our world.
For the first half of 2022, we were experimenting with ways of gathering as a church. This came about because of various things we were learning together through the 2020/21 Covid lockdowns. For the sake of growing as disciples of Jesus, we knew it was important for us to try some alternative ways of practicing our Christianity together.
In the latter half of 2022, on the back of a church-wide hui, we recognised our need to also be together more as a larger community while also ensuring we continued to find ways to practice our Christianity in real ways.
If you join us on a Sunday morning you will likely find us opening Scripture together and trying to practicalise that to ourselves and our engagement within our community. You will find us exploring various ways of worshipping Jesus together as we listen for his voice to us and obey what we corporately discern him saying to us.
Presently, our sung worship tends to be on the first and third Sunday of the month (and fifth if there is one). We also share communion on the first week. On the second Sunday of the month have small group conversations as part of our service so that we can all learn how to read and apply the Scriptures in community. On the third Sunday of the month, we allocate more time to praying together as a way of learning how to bring the people and situations of our lives to God. On the fourth Sunday of the month we aim to have different projects within and for our local community as we outwork our faith in a practical way.
We’d love to meet you and share this journey of transformation we are on with you. Feel free to join us on a Sunday (in person or via zoom to begin with if that helps https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89822918939), or to contact us midweek to introduce yourself.
We are also proudly a part of the wider Baptist family, being a part of the Baptist Union of New Zealand.
We hope that you find the information you are looking for in these pages, but hope more that you will join us soon!
