Thinking about coming on a Sunday?
It can feel like a big step, especially if you haven’t been to church before (or for a long time).
Here’s a simple walkthrough of what your morning will probably look like.
When you arrive
Our gathering starts at 10:00am.
Most people arrive between 9:50–10:05, so if you’re running late, you won’t be the only one. Or you can come early and grab a barista coffee anytime from 9:15am.
You’ll be welcomed at the door and can sit wherever you like. There’s no assigned seating and no VIP rows. Sometimes we sit around tables so we can have discussions during the gathering.
If you want support finding your way around, or to find someone to sit with, please ask the greeters by the door.
If you want to just quietly observe, that’s completely fine.
What happens during the gathering?
A typical Sunday gathering lasts about 90 minutes.
We usually:
- sing a few songs (you can join in or just listen)
- pray together
- read a passage from the Bible
- hear a talk connecting it to everyday life
- have space to reflect or respond
What about kids?
Kids are very welcome.
Royal Kids (ages 4–10) happens during the gathering. Children stay in for the beginning, then head out with leaders for stories and activities at their level. We ask that parents go our with the children to sign them in (we might need a few details from you) and settle them in. You will also need to collect and sign out your children after the gathering.
You’re also welcome to keep your children with you the whole time – and we totally understand that wriggles and noise are normal!
After the gathering
We share a cup of coffee and conversation together afterwards. You’ll even get a free barista drink on us your first week!
There’s no pressure to stay after the gathering, but it’s the easiest time to meet people if you’d like to. You won’t be put on the spot.
I've got some questions
What should I wear?
Whatever you’d normally wear to meet someone for coffee.
You’ll see everything from jeans and sneakers to slightly dressier, you won’t stand out.
Where can I park?
There are some parks in the carpark beside the building, although these fill up early. There is also street parking, and many people park in the area between the racquet club, JJ Kitchen and the roundabout.
Will I be asked to introduce myself?
No. We won’t single you out publicly.
People will probably come up to you to say hello and introduce themselves before or after the gathering. We hope this will make you feel welcome here.
Do I have to sing or pray out loud?
Not at all. Many people just listen, especially when they’re new.
What if I don’t believe in God?
You’re still welcome.
Many people come while they’re exploring or unsure. You won’t be expected to agree with everything.
Do I need to bring money?
No. Sometimes church members give as part of their worship, but visitors aren’t expected to.
Is there communion?
Yes. Communion is usually on the second and fourth Sunday of the month.
If you would like to participate, you are welcome. You do not have to be baptised to share in communion with us.
If you’d prefer not to participate, you can simply remain seated, that’s completely normal.
Is the building accessible?
Yes. Mobility parking is available in the carpark at the side of the building. Level/flat access is available through the front door. An accessible bathroom is situated next to the offices, off the foyer. Please ask if you need any support.
